Defenders of Wildlife Goes After Palin on Aerial Hunting
http://www.videosift.com/video/The-Truth-About-Aerial-Hunting-of-Wolves-in-Alaska

Federal legislation (PDF) does have a loophole for predator control, permitting state employees or licensed individuals to shoot from an aircraft for the sake of protecting "land, water, wildlife, livestock, domesticated animals, human life, or crops." (This doesn't just apply to wolves; coyotes and foxes are sometimes gunned down from aircraft, especially in Western states.) Since 2003, Alaska has issued aerial wolf-hunting permits in select areas where moose and caribou populations are particularly endangered. The idea is that by killing the predators, the airborne gunmen can ramp up the number of moose and caribou that human hunters can take home for supper.

http://www.slate.com/id/2199140/

Palin's idea of paying $150 for wolf forelegs never materialized because it would have been an illegal use of bounty payments, which were outlawed in Alaska in 1984.

I don't personally agree with Airborne Wolf Hunting. This is not a humane method of controlling a population. It's unethical in my opinion.

Cenk Uygur discusses the VP debate on CNN
"It's like sending a dog up there to debate Biden."

Or a pig with lipstick.

>> ^campionidelmondo:
It's like sending a dog up there to debate Biden. Everybody expects the dog to poop on the stage. He doesn't so suddenly it's a tie and the dog is a good VP candidate.

Zardari Might Hug Sarah Palin
A Pakistani cleric has issued a fatwa against Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari for flirting with US Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

The Maulana said that President Zardari's indecent gestures, filthy remarks and repeated praise of a non-Muslim lady wearing a short skirt is not only un-Islamic but also unbecoming of a head of state of a Muslim country.

He said that the manner in which Zardari shook hands with Sarah Palin and expressed his deep desire to hug her is intolerable and shameful.

Deregulating the market - case study: Enron & California
Gasoline and electricity are two completely different things. We've seen time and time again that utilities need to be regulated, gasoline does not.

Gas companies don't have a monopoly. High gas prices will only drive the free market toward other options. This is a good thing. It's not in the oil companies' best interests to inflate prices. They'll be sorry...all because of American Ingenuity and free market opportunities.

Kimbo Slice TKO'd in 14 Seconds
Anybody who understands mma knows that any one fighter, regardless of how good he is, can be taken down with a stray punch. It only takes one hit to jostle your brain.

I'm not a Kimbo fan but Petruzelli was obviously scared. It wasn't his skill that won him the fight. It was luck.

>> ^HaricotVert:
For the record, I don't follow/care/pay attention to any of the fighting-related sports. But this was a massively hyped event (as was Kimbo Slice), and the significance of this is that Kimbo is either grossly overrated or this no-name Seth Petruzelli is vastly underrated. Possibly both. Either way... pathetic.

Rihana - Umbrella
My opinion of this song: Pop music has a place in the world and fulfills a certain demand. Although it might not be the most well written, most complex song ever, it is VERY catchy. The chorus is very good stylistically, but the lyrics are lacking.

Come to think of it, other than the chorus the rest of the song is basically worthless.

***My roommate and I got quite a few laughs when I performed this acoustically while he improvised an interpretive tap dance at an open mic.

Play by Play: What Caused the Current Economic Crisis
^If a company wants to buy a debt package with bad loans thrown in, that's their problem.

...as long as there was full disclosure and there aren't any government sponsored organizations involved.

If that's the direction we head with more regulation, I'm all for it. The problem is the white lies and deceit that occurs when good investments, collateral, and loans are packaged together with poor investments in offshore accounts using shell companies that are labeled as "long term" and "safe" investments.

We obviously need to increase consumer protections but when it comes to the financial markets, it starts to get really wordy and many won't pay attention anyway. I digress.
