If someone says false things they need to be called upon it lest they infect the rest of us with their stupid.
She needs to be told that what she says is false. She is not a bad person, she is just misinformed. She is wrong. You don't spare someone's feelings by not correcting them. If anything you hurt them more.
(Incidentally, it's the same reason I'm anti-religious.)
